Susan Winer

Susan is a co-founder of Strategic Philanthropy, Ltd., and is Chief Operating Officer for the firm. She brings a unique skillset resulting from her almost 25 years of work with established non-profits and family-owned businesses. This deep experience ensures the integration of best practices in philanthropy in the family business and institutional services side of the firm’s service offerings. In addition to select client services, Susan has helped to shape the strategic and operational side of Strategic Philanthropy, Ltd. as well as its market and communications presence.

Prior to launching Strategic Philanthropy Ltd., Susan was president of Stratenomics, Inc., which she founded in 1985 to help closely held and family owned businesses find solutions to market and operating challenges and ensure stable and manageable growth. Earlier in her career she was Vice President of the Chicago Board of Trade, the first woman in a senior position at the Exchange, and before that she served as Assistant Midwest Bureau Chief for McGraw-Hill Publications where she oversaw 44 magazines in an eight state region.

Susan has authored, or co-authored, numerous articles for publications such as Family Wealth Report, PAM (Private Asset Management), Alliance, STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and Desert Charities. She served on the faculty of the Institute for Preparing Heirs and is a Faculty Advisor for The Ultra High Net Worth Institute. She is also on the Advisory Board for Family Wealth Report and is a judge for the Family Wealth Report Awards. Susan has a B.A. from Wayne State University, attended graduate school at the University of Michigan and successfully completed the Mediation Program at the Center for Mediation Law in California.
