Betsy founded Strategic Philanthropy, Ltd., after nearly 20 years working within the philanthropic and non-profit communities. Her work with a Chicago family was the impetus for starting Strategic Philanthropy. The family wanted to make a difference in the world but lacked the formal knowledge and professional resources to strategically invest their philanthropic dollars. Betsy helped the family start and manage Girl’s Best Friend Foundation. A decade later, Strategic Philanthropy gives that opportunity to a wide spectrum of donors around the world.

Betsy is an internationally recognized expert in philanthropy and a prolific writer and speaker. She is a regular contributor to Forbes.com and has authored pieces for the Journal of Practical Estate Planning, Alliance Magazine and the Environmental Grantmakers Association Journal, among others. She is a member of the Donors Forum, Chicago Estate Planning Council, Grantmakers Without Borders, Chicago Global Donors Network, Family Firm Institute, National Network of Grantmakers to Consultants, Advisors in Philanthropy and the Council on Foundations Philanthropic Advisor Network.

Betsy has an MBA in International Business from The Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Roosevelt University. She is one of a select group of professionals designated as a National Center for Family Philanthropy Trained Consultant.

Betsy’s passion for social change and her knowledge of effective philanthropic strategies is the lifeblood of our office and continuously inspires our employees, clients and philanthropic experts worldwide.
